Salmon Watch Instructor Training – September 10th and 11th

Salmon Watch training sessions (note different start times each day):
Tuesday, Sept. 10, 9 am – noon
9 am – 10 am: introductions around the circle, brief introduction to the Salmon Watch program, logistics/scheduling for 2019
10 am – 10:50 am: how to teach the salmon biology station with Greg Stabach, Frances Oyung, and ODFW Salmon Trout Enhancement Program Biologist, Ryan Battleson.
10:50 – 11:00: break
11:00 am – 11:50: demo of a salmon dissection with Ryan Battleson. (Dissection is an optional add on that some instructors like to do but is not always included in a field trip. Instructors get to decide if they want to do a dissection; it is not required.)
11:50 – noon: questions, wrap-up,
Wed. Sept. 11, 8:30 am – noon
8:30-8:45: introductions, quick review of critical info for those not at Tuesday session
8:45-9:40: how to teach the riparian habitats station
9:40-10:35: how to teach the water quality station
10:35-10:45: break
10:45-11:40: how to teach the stream macroinvertebrates station
11:40-noon: questions, wrap-up
Both trainings will be at Bear Creek Park, Medford. Meet in the parking lot off Highland Dr. (enter parking lot near intersection of Highland and Greenwood St.) between the skate park and the BMX track.
